This story just sheds light on how far society has moved away from the foundation set by Jesus Christ. This 17 year old just displayed an act of attempted murder, selfishness, and hatred toward her child! As a parent, I understand that we can not control all of our children's actions. Although, it is a well known fact that parents have a major influence and responsibility in the lives of their children. We are not here to point fingers, or to degrade anyone, even though this display of evilness raises eyebrows. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
As parents, for our children, we have to set a strong foundation that is built on love, patience, self-control, and the other fruits of the spirit. I'm going back to Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it." In the end, God has placed the ultimate responsibility on us to raise and train our children to be a value to society, instead of a disgrace. I truly believe that God has equipped us all with the ability to train and/or keep our children on the right track. We just have to make sure our foundation is set in stone with him!
Our minds can indulge in so much negativity, which in turn can cause unrecognizable influences. The news is filled with teen moms killing babies, to the point some have become celebrities. There is YouTube filled with teenagers fighting at school, to the point it has made national news. You have teen mom shows on MTV, making young girls think it is cool to be pregnant, unmarried, and young. It seems as though, positive uplifting shows in the media just disappear. In the end, we can point the finger at everyone, but it is up to parents to be their children's best role model and to teach them a foundation in God.
couldn't watch it. makes my heart hurt just to imagine. Where's the foundation is so right? For many, it just plain doesn't exist.
ReplyDeleteThe scary part is the girl seem so calm. She is facing life and I hope she receive it. If she gets off, she will definitely do it again.
